(FBI 1999 Uniform Crime Report) • 80% of sexual assaults are committed by someone the victim knows.(U.S. Department of Justice, National Violence Against Women 2000 Survey) • Less than 30% of sexual assaults are reported each year.(Bureau of Justice Statistics 2002) • Almost 60% of completed college campus rapes took place in the victim's residence. 31% took place in other campus living quarters and more than 10% took place in a fraternity. (Bureau of Justice Statistics and National Institute of Justice, "The Sexual Victimization of College Women," 2000) • 12.8% of completed rapes of college women, 35% of attempted rapes of college women, and 22.9% of threatened rapes of college women took place on a date.
